Day by day

Altitude, rest days and a bit of ceremony. Mountain weather can shuffle the high days around, but the shape of the trip stays the same.

  1. Day 01

    Kathmandu to Pokhara

    822 m

Scenic flight or a private drive to the lakeside, then a night briefing so everyone knows the plan.

  2. Day 02

    Jomsom · Kagbeni

    2,800 m

The Kali Gandaki is a wind tunnel. Kagbeni is the gateway shrine. The wind is not subtle.

  3. Day 03

    Chele

    3,050 m

The permit checkpoint, then the first orange canyons of Mustang. This is where the country changes.

  4. Day 04

    Geling

    3,510 m

High desert villages, and whitewashed chortens against a hard sky.

  5. Day 05

    Charang

    3,560 m

A cliffside monastery and one of the nicest libraries in Lo. Bring your curiosity.

  6. Day 06

    Lo Manthang

    3,840 m

Walk into the walled city. Hang with local lineage holders. Feels like a movie.

  7. Day 07

    Sky caves of Chhoser

    4,000 m

Horseback to the ancient burial caves cut into the cliff. Straight-up Indiana Jones.

  8. Day 08

    Return via Dhakmar

    3,820 m

Red cliffs at dusk - the prettiest valley in the kingdom, hands down.
