Day by day

Altitude, rest days and a bit of ceremony. Mountain weather can shuffle the high days around, but the shape of the trip stays the same.

  1. Day 01

    Arrive Kathmandu

    1,400 m

A private transfer to a good hotel in the valley. Evening briefing and a kit check, so nothing is left to the morning.

  2. Day 02

    Flight to Lukla · Phakding

    2,610 m

Crack-of-dawn STOL hop into the Khumbu. Walk the Dudh Koshi corridor to a riverside lodge.

  3. Day 03

    Namche Bazaar

    3,440 m

The long climb into the Sherpa capital. The first look at Everest is from the museum ridge. It is enough.

  4. Day 04

    Acclimatisation · Everest View

    3,880 m

A rest day above Namche so the altitude does not catch you out. Optional helicopter tea at Hotel Everest View. Odd, and worth it.

  5. Day 05

    Tengboche Monastery

    3,860 m

Forest trail to the spiritual heart of the Khumbu. A blessing with the resident lama. That part stays with people.

  6. Day 06

    Dingboche

    4,410 m

Above the treeline into the Imja Valley. A private lodge and a wood fire. Food that is not an afterthought.

  7. Day 07

    Nangkartshang Peak

    5,083 m

Acclimatisation climb above Dingboche with Ama Dablam's north face staring you down.

  8. Day 08

    Lobuche

    4,940 m

Memorial ridge and the high Khumbu. A night talk on the glaciers. More interesting than it sounds.

  9. Day 09

Gorak Shep · Everest Base Camp

    5,364 m

Stand on the Khumbu Glacier, then walk back to a heated lodge.

  10. Day 10

Kala Patthar · Helicopter to Kathmandu

    5,545 m

Sunrise on Everest's south face, then a private helicopter over the icefall to Kathmandu.

  11. Day 11

    Valley recovery

    1,400 m

A spa morning, a private museum tour, and a farewell dinner in Patan. A reasonable way to finish.
